Next Steps
If you have been visiting for a while, is it time to make a deeper commitment or connection? We want everyone to feel like Ann Arbor Community Church is a home to them. Everyone connects differently, but we all share a need for community—see if some of the opportunities below could be a good next step for you!
Life Groups
Ann Arbor Community Church has a strong life group culture. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week at different venues, and we are always launching new ones. To find out more about life groups, contact the Life Groups Coordinator, who can help find a group that suits your needs.
Community Life Events
These provide a great opportunity to meet fellow congregants as well as staff and leaders. Events are regularly updated on our church calendar. A few highlights include:
- Community Coffee Hour: Held once a month on the third Sunday after the celebration service.
- Let’s Do Lunch: Members of the congregation go out to lunch once a month at a local restaurant—everyone is welcome.
- Seasonal Events: Easter Egg Hunt, Church Picnic, Fall Festival, and more.
We’re always looking for volunteers to help host these events, which is also a great way to get to know people. For more information, contact the Community Life Events Coordinator.
Spiritual Formation
We believe that as a church we are called to support everyone on their faith journey. No matter your stage of faith, the goal is to continually grow, transform, and become more like Christ. We do this by engaging in the practices that Christ himself demonstrated, and by surrendering to God’s work in our lives.
Whether you are new to faith or long established, we want to encourage you and guide you as you grow. Visit our Spiritual Formation resources for more information, or contact Pastor Donnell to talk about how we can support your journey.
Give
As a church we are grateful for the gifts—large and small—that God has given us. We are invited to respond to God’s grace by giving generously, sharing what we’ve received, and caring for the world God has entrusted to us.
Giving is both a sacrament and a commitment. You can partner with us through one-time gifts or by setting up recurring giving. Every contribution matters and is deeply appreciated.
Classes
To learn more about upcoming spiritual formation or discipleship classes, contact Pastor Donnell.
Serve
Working alongside one another is one of the best ways to get to know each other and serve in God’s name. We have a wide range of service opportunities—see where your gifts might fit!
Children’s Ministry
If you have a heart for children, our Children’s Ministry welcomes you! Opportunities range from holding babies once a month to leading a class every week, as well as behind-the-scenes help with supplies and materials. To learn more, contact Barb Hillaker (Children’s Ministry).
Youth Ministry
Our Youth Ministry serves both junior high and high school students. Groups meet during the 11 celebration on Sundays and also enjoy regular outings and activities, which often need chaperones. To learn more, contact Jonathan Bartholomay or Clem Hasselbach (Youth Leaders).
Homeless Ministry
Each Friday evening, our Homeless Ministry volunteers gather at Liberty Plaza Park in downtown Ann Arbor to share food and fellowship. They serve pizza, coffee, and distribute bags of food, as well as warm clothing and sleeping bags in the winter. It is a humbling and enriching way to serve those in need in our community. For details on how to get involved, contact the Homeless Ministry Team.
Sunday Celebration Team
Help us welcome people into the presence of God by serving on the Sunday Celebration Team. From greeting to hospitality, this is a great way to share Christ’s love in a practical way. For more information, contact the church office.
Multimedia Team
If you have technical or creative skills, consider serving with the Multimedia Team. This ministry uses sound, visuals, and technology to support worship and extend God’s kingdom. For more information, contact Shaun Garth Walker (Worship Pastor).
